Greetings from Fresh From The Vines!
It is time for us to begin planning our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) for 2012. We invite you to consider participating.
Through this membership, you would have the opportunity to support local, sustainable farming as you receive fresh, in-season produce every week. Often described as a partnership, the CSA model benefits both the consumer and the farmer. You, the subscriber, receive a weekly share of the freshest, highest quality produce available, throughout the duration of the partnership. The farmer, in turn, has some certainty in her sales and can focus energies on improving the quality and variety of produce she provides.
Shareholders may enjoy a variety of the following:
Lettuce Mix Beans Garlic Brussels Sprouts
Chard Herbs Peppers Cabbage
Kale Potatoes Melons Winter Squash
Spinach Eggplant Summer Squash Cucumbers
Onions Tomatoes Zucchini
We may also add our fresh bread, homemade jams, eggs, or other local products at the start of the season to help fill the boxes in the event of a slow start to the spring. In addition, we look forward to bringing you local fruits as they come into season.
In 2012, we will offer 8 full shares, at a cost of $500.00 each and 4 half shares, at the cost of $250.00 each. For 25 weeks, partners will receive a weekly half-bushel box of fresh produce. That?s $20.00 ($10.00 half shares) worth of fresh, in-season produce grown without chemicals in a sustainable environment, every week. In addition, we will send you an electronic newsletter that includes an itemized list of your box?s contents, ideas for preparing them, and additional information about the week?s specific produce. Shares are available on a first come, first serve basis as we receive your email confirmations and initial deposits of 50% of the share price, $250/ full share, $125/half share. The remaining $250/$125 will be due by May 1. Make checks payable to Fresh From The Vines and mailed to 18374 Highway 98, Meadville, PA 16335.
Generously, a local supporter of our CSA allows their garage (located in Meadville, just a few blocks from Allegheny College) as the pick-up site each week. We will deliver the produce at 4:00pm every Wednesday, beginning May 2. You will be able to pick up your food on Wednesdays from 4:00-10:00pm every week through October 17, the final drop-off date.
Please visit our website for more information about our farm and the produce we offer: http://www.freshfromthevines.com/. You can also find our listings on Local Harvest, http://www.localharvest.org/farms/M33922, and Eat Well Guide, http://eatwellguide.org/listing/detail/55834.
We recognize that CSA members share in the risk with the farmer, and while no one can control the weather conditions, we hope to provide you with a pleasing variety of vegetables. We look forward to sharing little surprises and new discoveries along the way. Please consider this an invitation to experience the growing season with us.
Remember: to reserve your share, please send an email confirmation and your initial deposit, as they will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis. We will send a confirmation email once we receive your payment.
